See me grow!

This is quite funny actually, not only can you see the obvious
that my belly is getting larger, but if you notice, my shirt is
                                  also getting shorter.

Update - 27 weeks

Okay, okay, I know I have been slacking off in the blogging department, but in my defense, it has been awfully busy around here. Tomorrow, I will officially be in my third trimester at 27 weeks. Cadhla's last few check-ups have gone wonderfully, and she still seems to be growing like a weed.

This past check-up, I had to take the glucose tolerance test (standard) to check for gestational diabetes. I am happy to report that after drinking grossness and waiting an hour, the test came back normal! Also, Dr. Putterman said she is in breech position, which is normal, and basically means she is standing up in my stomach.  Over the next several weeks, she will turn slowly to get ready for delivery.

Since I am now in my third trimester, the frequency of my visits has increased to every other week. This past visit, and from here on out, Dr. Putterman measured my stomach and said it was 28 centimeters. As it was explained to me, this gives a rough estimate of the baby's progression, with every centimeter equaling one week of pregnancy. I was 26 weeks when I visited, so this reinforced what we already knew, which is that she is a big healthy girl. : )

I signed Dustin and I up for pre-childbirth classes at the end of July. It is a three half-day course that will teach us about the actual birth, including medications and what to expect, as well as give us the opportunity to create a birthing plan. Also, breast feeding, and the first few weeks after birth. I wanted to take this class more than Dustin, but he's being the good husband he is and joining me for the venture.

Cadhla is kicking up a storm. In fact, she is so strong now that her movements are actually affecting my external environment. For example, yesterday morning I was lounging on the couch and she actually made my breast move with a few of her kicks! Later, she moved the blanket I was under!

I believe I finally completed the baby registry. I am registered at two different stores (to be announced later). One store is 99% complete now, and the other will be finished shortly. I found it very different registering for the baby versus the wedding. The wedding I was struggling to find things to add because we had so much already, but with the baby we have nothing, so it was a bit overwhelming going through everything we needed to register for. Also, croc pots do not require research like car seats and strollers. : )

Last night I bought a baby names book and I have started marking down, circling and crossing off, which will hopefully end with Cadhla being given a well deserved middle name. The whole process of this is much more difficult than I thought.

I should be getting in the nursery furniture next week, so I will take a picture and post as soon as it arrives. And since I am in my third trimester, I will try to make a better habit out of weekly pictures of me. This is really the time that we will begin to see her grow. Thanks for keeping in touch with me about the baby. Keep reading, I have a sneaky suspicion that the next several weeks are going to be quite the ride!

20 Weeks

Hello everyone! Dustin helped me take this picture on Wednesday before we left for our doctor appointment.  Believe me, I may be living it, but I might have been more shocked than some of you who haven't seen me in a while. It's absolutely wild to think she is growing as fast as she is. Also, because of the craziness of this picture, I am going to make you this promise, from here on out, I'll do my best to take a picture every week to post an update. I make no promises though, except to try.

My brother came in town last weekend and before he got here, I asked Dustin, "have I grown since the wedding"? After laughing at me, he asked, "are you serious?" I felt a bit stupid, but I said "yeah, well kinda." He laughingly said, "you've more than doubled in size". So yeah, even though I kind of know, I don't. Here's what I DO know, (1) my stomach is now larger than my breasts, something that hasn't happened in quite a while, and (2) if I'm standing up straight and look down, I can no longer see my feet. I also know that I'm only halfway there, so I still have quite a road ahead.

After next weekend, I am really going to dive into the baby registry and get my thoughts out for the nursery.  I'm going tomorrow with my dear friend Cody to order the nursery furniture, which if you'd like you can preview hereThe crib is exact, but the other pieces are going to be slightly different.  We're only ordering tomorrow, it won't be in for 8-10 weeks, so once we have everything set-up and in place, I'll take some pictures and post of Cadhla's new room. I think I'm also going to dive into the artist in me and get some wood letters from hobby lobby to paint of either her initials or her first name, I haven't decided that one yet.  As of now, her room consists of a couch, that is shortly migrating to mom's house, a lamp, that I'm not sure where it is going, and three large Tupperware boxes filled with shoes, that need to find a new home in one of the other closets. Oh, and a lot of empty space. Needless to say, I've got a lot of work to do.

So now about Cadhla.  The doctor visit on Wednesday went great, we got to spend quite a bit of time with her. Cadhla is still a fairly large baby, we're not sure exactly how long, but she weighs 14 ounces. She was still a bit balled up at this past ultrasound, so she was making the doctor's job a little more difficult for measurements. Regardless, we still got several good shots of her, one great one of her little foot and a few of her face. I know you probably can't see the pictures all that well, but there is one marked "It's a girl". So for all of you Riley's that are reading this, please know that this would be our third confirmation, and in all of her shots, she is pretty "spread eagle" so she really isn't hiding ANYTHING. Which I'm not sure is a good thing or not.  : ) Other than that, she is still on target for her growth, her heart beat is still strong and she has developed her organs already.  Dr. Putterman pointed out her kidneys to us on Wednesday along with some other key areas. She is still as active as ever. Every ultrasound she's just moving around all over the place, which I hope is a sign she'll sleep a lot when she comes out.  Hope, anyway.  Ha, ha.  In these pictures, she is positioned with her hands up over her head, like she's stretching.  Hopefully that helps with being able to interpret the pictures a bit better.

Okay, with that, I'll leave you for the evening.  And if I don't post again next week with a new picture, feel free to yell at me until I do so.

Love you all,

Lynda and Cadhla

BIG BABY!

Yesterday, Cadhla and I had our 17-week check-up.  I am completely healed, and Cadhla is doing perfectly. Although I'm officially off of light-duty, I still have to take things pretty easy for the next few weeks.

Baby Cadhla's growth is also perfect, as the doctor put it. In fact, apparently she's a "large" baby. Oh boy, I wasn't fearing labor at all before, but now I'm a bit edgy! So I found out that not only do I have a gymnast, but a large one!

We have another ultrasound scheduled in three weeks, and this is the big ultrasound where we get to spend 30 minutes peeking in on Cadhla. I can't wait for Dustin to see her again! I'll post some more pictures then so you can all see GIANT CADHLA!

She moved!

So baby Cadhla (Ky-lah) let me know she was in there this afternoon with some very odd feeling kicks.  I was so excited I started laughing, and I keep giggling a little every time I feel her now.  It felt like a "whoosh" in my tummy, which is amazingly difficult to describe. Like butterflies, I suppose.  I just wish Dustin could have felt it too.  I guess in a few weeks she'll let him know too.

BIG WEEK FOR BABY RILEY!

Hello All!

I am registered on babycenter.com, so every week I get a "baby update" on development as well as what to expect as a new mom.  This week is a big week because it suggests this is when we can begin talking to the baby. It actually says to "narrate" your day, but I'm not so sure about that one! However, I do plan on reading to the baby and keep listening to music.  Talking to the baby helps for developing language skills later on, so make sure when you see me you greet baby Riley as well!

Mom and baby had another excellent appointment yesterday. Baby Riley's heartbeat was 154 beats per minute which is good and strong, and the baby is 8cm long from head to rump, as Dr. Putterman says it.  The first picture is a bit blurry, but in the second and third you can see skinny little legs and a spinal cord. Because of the spinal cord, I think the baby looks half human, but still half alien at this point.  But I will take my little alien and love it forever. : )

Still no definitive answer on the gender yet, but Dr. P said he wants to see us again in three weeks, then the next one after that would be "the big ultrasound".  I am so excited!

Mom and I were bickering as normal yesterday over the ultrasound pictures, by the way AKA B-T-W, I'll try to get some better pictures and post later this weekend. Dr. Putterman laughingly said "I think she's confused over who's baby this is." In that same respect, I received a text from mom on the way home suggesting that we begin referring to the baby as "grandbaby Triplett" rather than "baby Riley". I believe this child will be so spoiled, they won't know what hit them!

With the wedding getting so close, I am beginning to concentrate more on how I'm going to set up the nursery, but first and foremost, how I'm going to rearrange the other three rooms in the house to make room for the nursery. Or rather, how Dustin is...he..he..he. We have discussed a few themes which include something with elephants (as if you didn't see that coming) or the zombie apocalypse, or even more ridiculous than that, dinosaurs riding unicorns. As you can see, we have quite a lot of thinking to do.  The good thing is, we still have plenty of time for that.

Next appointment is in three weeks where Dr. Putterman said we would get better pictures. But in the meantime, I will try to get better pictures of the ultrasounds from yesterday, and possibly a picture of myself.  I don't believe I'm showing yet, but it may serve as a good comparison to a couple of weeks down the road.

2nd Appointment: March 1st

Today was a quick appointment, just listened to the heartbeat.  Still healthy and strong at 157 beats per minute! Nice talk with Dr. P today. Morning sickness has let up quite a bit, now I only seem to gag (violently, as mom puts it) when there is a bad smell. She unfortunately was referring to an "incident" a few weeks ago in the middle of the galleria. NOT FUN. The last few weeks I have gotten most of my energy back, and I feel much better than I have the weeks before.

Less than three weeks until the wedding, and then I think we can start some serious baby planning!
Baby Riley's first picture! The baby has a gigantic head!
Hello everyone!

I would like you to meet Baby Riley! Dustin and I took an early honeymoon this past December, and we left as two and came home as three! Our first baby appointment was February 2nd. Mom and Dustin accompanied us to the doctor to see the BIG unveiling. Tears later (from mom) we found out that our new baby was healthy and happy, and "flippering" around all over the place.  We got to see and hear the heartbeat, which was incredible! The next appointment was set for today...
